Fields of Hope probably already became a part of Nysa and its surroundings landscape - because Hospice itself is a part of it too. Hospice in 2014 will celebrate its twenty years of existence, and Fields of Hope in 2013 appeared in Nysa for the eighth time. Every year the number of volunteers willing to help with the fundraiser for the Hospice is rising, as well as the amount of collected funds. There were over two hundred volunteers from secondary schools in Nysa alone excluding volunteers from the Non-Public Government High School in Paczków and Group of Schools in Skoroszyce near Nysa. Also some of the Parishes from the vicinity of Nysa and Paczków were involved. In total, Fields of Hope 2013 acquired 35,907 PLN. This is very important for the Hospice, especially when there is still no change in National Health Found policy on Hospices. Acquired amount of nearly 36 thousand is a lot, but it is still less than 3% of our annual outlay. National Health Fund covers only about 70%... and this is not likely to improve any time soon.
Annual charity concert combined with an auction for Hospice is another point in the calendar of cultural events in Nysa. This year it took place for the thirteenth time on October 20. The hero of the event was the undisputed star - Hanna Banaszak; due to her name the beautifully restored hall of Nysa Culture House was filled to the last seat. As every year, we could count on local visual artists who nobly offered their works with a view to the Hospice. Auction of these works, expertly led by the director of the Museum of Nysa, Małgorzata Radziewicz, resulted in a significant amount of about 10 thousand PLN. Next morning, October 21, Hanna Banaszak visited our Hospice and then on her own initiative offered to come back right after the New Year with a recital of Christmas carols to give the Hospice one more opportunity to raise additional funds.
3 Our Hospice calendar also includes the annual Days of Recollection: in autumn at the Benedictines in Biskupów near Nysa (one of three Benedictine Abbeys in Poland) and spring - at Oblates of the Virgin Mary in Bodzanów near Głuchołazy. Those also held this year, and their purpose is renewing the evangelical-humanitarian motivation to work in Hospice in addition to strengthening the integration of the Hospice team. We cannot imagine preparation for Christmas without the festive Christmas meeting, involving not only the Hospice staff, but also authorities of Auxilium Association. Such meeting has strong integration value, and integration is very important for us to carry the common hardships of daily work for the dying. There were thus the Christmas meeting in 2013, and it took place on December 19.
Current news 2012
October and November 2012 was the time of bishop’s visitation in Nysa and the surrounding area. During his visit, Auxiliary Bishop of Opole Diocese Paweł Stobrawa, also visited our Hospice: although hospice is not church-related institution, but it is founded on Christian etic and full tolerance rule about patients’ religion. This is why this visit (by the way – it was not the first time bishop arrived to our Hospice) was very ennobling and uplifting.

Summer was the time when we improved the development of the new part of our building. Making better use of basement floor we were able to extend our storage space, find better place for the archives, staff locker rooms and high quality bathroom for nurses. All that was possible thanx to „one percent” from the taxes.
In June 2012, as the holder of ISO certificate, we had an audit performed by external certifying company. Its results confirmed high quality of our palliative care services.
As every year, we experienced twice hospice Serenity Day: 22 May, at the Missionary Fathers Oblates in Bodzanów and October 16, at the Benedictine Fathers in Biskupów. Each time such meeting has several moments important for Hospice:
a) reflection on the quality of our hospice service,
b) recreation and free conversation,
c) common prayer and the Eucharist,
d) dinner – agape.
Three general meetings
Beginning of year 2012 or, to be exact, first half of the year, was all about clarifying our legal situation. „Act on medical activities” of April 15, 2011 created a thread to all public benefit organizations: from July 2012 these were supposed to conduct business activity, and by that lose their right to all grants and donations, including „one percent” from the taxes. This would have caused a great financial problem to all the organizations, including our Association. We joined to multilateral consultations and medial activities to modify the malicious Act under the direction of the "Forum of Polish Hospices” from Cracow. By the end of June 2012 we were able to breathe a sigh of relief: for now, business activity is not a problem.
Notwithstanding, we haven’t avoided formal and legal confusion. We had to change our Statute three times,so three times during this period General Meetings has been convened:

Current news 2011
On 19th December, few days before Christmas Eve, we gathered on our annual Christmas meeting. There was all of the Hospice staff, authorities of our association and, first of all, Ordinary of the Diocese of Opole, Bishop Andrzej Czaja. It was not hard to convince him to come to the meeting. What is more, he admitted himself, that there is no more marvelous thing than Christmas Eve in a Hospice. According to him, our Hospice work is significant to the Church of our Diocese. This is exactly what we need - to master the eagerness in the service of the sick and dying.
On Tuesday, 29th November, significant and pleasant event took place: blessing and grand opening of the newly built part of the building. Bishop Andrzej Czaja - Ordinary of the Diocese of Opole - celebrated the ceremony himself. We were also honored with the presence of Jolanta Barska - major of Nysa and Adam Fujarczuk - Nysa country governor. The presentation about past 17 years of Hospice history and its meaning to the local society was shown to the honorable guests.

The very same day, in the afternoon, Hospice invited everyone for an Open Day. About 50 people discretely visited the building; there were students from high school, PWSZ Nysa, and more than a dozen University of the Third Age auditors.

All summer and part of autumn was the time of intensive work in the new part of the Hospice. Finally, on 25th October, we got the permission to use newly built part of the building. This way Hospice received extended Palliative Clinic and House Hospice space, as well as new consulting room and professional conference room (which will also be used as a training and meeting room). Conference room took its` baptism of fire on 8th November 2011, when Auxilium Society met - for the first time in its own headquarters.

Our Charity Concert this year, being always a part of autumn "Hospice is also life" campaign, was slightly ahead of the timeframe. It took place on 15th September 2011, all of that because of incoming renovation of Cultural Center in Nysa. Mr. Zbigniew Wodecki was the main performing artist (he made it all for charity). The concert was tremendous and, in the same breath, during the auction we raised 9500 zlotys.

The external audit took place in our Hospice. It was the culmination of almost annual efforts to obtain the ISO certificate. This project not only motivated us to fulfill standards – which are obligatory for us in any case - better, but also confirmed the high quality of work in our hospice.
May 24, 2011
We had the traditional spring Day of Reflection in the hospitable Oblates monastery of Holy Virgin Mary in Bodzanów near Głuchołazy. In addition to relaxing psychological exercises, walks in the park and a spiritual conference, we had the Mass in our intentions. Afterwards, there was a feast outdoors.

Before the winter 2010/2011 we were able to cover newly added floor (130 square metres of the area) of the new segment in a flat roof and fit new windows. Since December 2010 the building work moved indoors, not only in the new but also in the old part of the first floor, which was divided into the office and psychological study. At the beginning of the spring 2011 the elevation was completed. Nowadays, bricklaying and decorating of the new floor is being continued. It is believed to finish all work at the end of the summer, i.e. in September 2011.

For the whole second half of 2007 we were busy having the hospice extension redecorated. In accordance with our project ,we got two bright rooms for patients, a genuine duty-room overlooking patients' rooms , two spacious bathrooms , a bedding storage room and dirty bedding storage room . In the basement there are two spacious garages and big additional storage space. At the moment there are 12 beds comfortably located in the hospice ward, financed with the support the Opole branch of the National Health Fund.

The great chapel- the first one in the hospice is a separate thing to be proud of for us. It is not too big , but thanks to the wide moving door it can be open to the neighbouring patients' rooms. Next to the chapel, we managed to find some space for a tiny sacristy which allows us to take the proper care of a Sunday mass and it is a good place for a penitent's confession or may serve as a right place for a discreet conversation if need be.
The culmination point of the process of building the extension was the insulation of the hospice and having it plastered. The finishing touch consisted in having the ground around the building levelled and a new basalt surface in the car park with necessary drain pipes put. Now "the only" thing left is to pay back the existing bank loan for the next many years to come.
The new elevation and the car park
On 26 January, 2008 the solemn opening of the hospice extension took place. Bishop Jan Baginsky from Opole blessed the new patients' rooms and chapel and the first mass gathered not only the patients, personnel and society management but also the representatives of local authorities and a few sponsors. Bishop Baginski showed deep respect for the hospice staff for their service to the incurably ill. He also showed his admiration to the society members and sponsors for their care about the hospice.
In December we gathered together to celebrate Christmas almost a week before Christmas Eve. Usually we invite the management of Auxilium Hospice Society to our solemn meal to emphasize the importance of their work which is really crucial for our peace of mind.
